Why is it that the feeders that I buy always die so fast. When I buy there are like 50 in the bag. Within hours at least half would have died. Is this normal? The LFS owner told me that its normal. Is this true? I'm trying to breed them but to no success so far. Every hour a few more die. They don't even last the night.

I want to breed them to save cost as well as ensuring that they're safe as I don't know where the feeders from the LFS come from. Any help would be much appreciated.

Something wrong with your water?

I don't think so. I just dump the guppies into a tank together with the water it came with. Then I add an air tube to the tank.

Hmm, I'll try that. Thanks for your help :D

i agree. most likely a lack of a cycled tank that can't handle their waste etc.

even could be guppies that are so inbred that they become overly sensitive or frail.

With 50 fish pooping and peeing in the bag you will lose them pretty quick due to ammonia. Ask them to bag them in smaller lots. 25 in a big bag isn't that bad. When you get them home put them in fresh water not the high ammonia water in the bag. You won't be able to keep 50 guppies in a small uncycled tank for long. Maybe buy 5 or so to cycle the tank and gradually build it up. There are some nice diy filters on this site. Salt helps too.

Some places just sell bad feeders. Check out the other stores in your area. Or find a breeder and get their culls.
