I bought some fish which i think are silver sides as feeders

These are the fish i have now :
a channa micropeltes and a channa marulioides at about 6inches,
an alligator gar at 7 inches,
2 oscars (1 at 5 inches other at 4 inches),
a rtc x tsn hybrid at 7 inches
a red eared slider at about 3 inches in shell length.

I listed all my fish and my turtle who eats these feeders coz they seem to have problems eating them. The largest feeder is at about 2.3" max.
Only my oscar seem to have problems eating them.. like the tail still stuck out of its mouth for about an hour then it spat it out. Offered a dead silver side but my turtle only ate the head and left it to float away and that was his meal for the day and he eats alot.

the first time i placed the feeders in the tank they ate them like mad.. chased them like hell.. especially the micropeltes. But after a few days, they didnt even seem to care about them.. are they too fast? are silver sides too bony?

my emperor snakehead cant seem to catch them.. would goldfish be a much better option for now for them to grow first? would this be advisable?

It would be awesome if i could actually get a reply..would be awesome.

well if your going the feeder route i get rosie reds but not that often. I don't want to get any diseases and mess the water up. I don't buy a ton just enough that my fish will eat them in about 2hrs. I don't like them living in the tank for to long. I never had problems with feeders yet but heard horror stories. I never liked goldfish because they are really fatty.

rosey reds are the same exact thing bro

as far as the op, silversides are usually sold dead and frozen....your oscar should be on pellets, not feeders but swimming around with the tail sticking out of it's mouth is normal.

hah.. yeah man i know.. i was actually not even feeding my fishes feeders.. i've got them off feeders for a long time already.. just recently i had to go back to feeders since i dont know a good brand of pellets (since i ran out of my old ones).. any ideas of good pellets? i had them on hikari carnivorous pellets before this.. (the micropeltes is new so it started on feeders but the emperor snakehead was actually feeding on the pellets before this)

all i have now are turtle pellets which i still use to feed my turtle.. btw just saw my gar eat a silverside so i guess he doesnt really have a problem.. its the others

hikari cichlid gold is a good cheap staple to use

hikari is good and so is nls (new life spectrum). you can buy either in bulk, alot cheaper then buying them for 8-10 bucks a bag
