i just got done building my pond an plan on using it to breed feeders so i can feed my fish i just put in it moskito fish and gostshrimp and if i can find cherry red srimp them to and i wonted to know if i can put crayfish allso or will they eat/pick at the rubber pondliner? the pond is 3 1/2ft deep x 4ftwide x 15ft long its L shape i have no idea how many gallons it is.

Feeders are so cheap buying them is almost always the most best bet, but not near as fun!

Crayfish will hide and you will most likely never see them in a pond. They may take some fish, but they are feeders anyway, right?

I am not sure about the shrimp in a pond, someone else may be able to help.

I will say if you can find a local stream/puddle take a net and scoop what you can of minnows. I randomly threw maybe 20 guppylike minnows in my turtle pond for food in June and now there are honestly several hundred. I never had results like that in a tank.

im layed off work wright now so im trying to rais some feeder for my fish theres a stream about 20min from my house that has crayfish, tadpoles, glassshrimp, moskitofish, and these 2in red and white tetra looking fish that i catch once a week.but if i could breed them it would beats driving over there just walk out my door. so the only one that i have not tossed in the pond was the crayfish they go straght to the dinner table.but if i knew they would leave the liner alone i wood toss some in the next time i catch some thnx

I wouldn't do crays with shrimp. The crays will eat all that they can catch - and often shrimp carry parasites or diseases that will kill crays if eaten. Choose one or the other. Shrimp are great because you can get big numbers. Crays are okay, but they will canibalize. However, the ones that live will give you a larger feeder. So.. it's up to you. Also, many crayfish breed seasonally, so you may not have a constant supply year round.
If it is fairly warm in your area, go with shrimp unless you are having to feed larger fish. Also, lok into culturing scuds.

i have a 2 month old 3oo gallon shubunkin pond . started with 8 mosquito fish . I already have probably around a hundred or more !! I wasn't even trying to raise feeders but it seems i've accidently set up a nice little feeder breeder .

try fathead minnows. they get to 4" and they breed like CRAZY! they breed IMO faster than mosquito fish and are one of the hardiest freshwater fish out there!
