Anyone have advice on getting rid of the smell from my feeder fish!!! No matter how often I clean it or put in fresh water it continues to make my apartment smell! haha

When was the last time you cleaned your filter? Is the water clear or cloudy? Doing weekly water changes? Rotten food in the tank?

Maybe try a lid?

Not trying to sound like a smart ass, but was your feeder tank cycled? and if it was did you all of a sudden add a lot of new stock to it??? coz i'm guessing maybe its going through a cycle of sorts???

just do frozen food or dry foods =P

If the feeders die in masses and clog the filter, I think that might explain the smell.

Like others said, feed pellets. Your fish will be healthier and your apartment won't smell.

If the fish are dieing in masses
1) the tank is not cycled.
2)dead fish are whats causing the smell.
Whats the ammonia level?Once the biofilter is up to maintaining the fish in the tank, the fish will stop dieing. Then the tank wont smell like dead fish.

best way to rid the smell from your feeder tank is to purchase another filter and to continue with 50% water changes every week.....Adding more Ammonia Removal packs in the filter's cabin will defintely rid of the smell........Actually filling one filter with just the Amonia Removal packs will greatly reduce the smell.......Or purchasing less in quantitiy of feeders for the tank to hold..........
