i would like to create a feeder tank. usually through out the spring and summer i buy a few .13 cent goldfish for the rain barrel to keep mosquito larva out. if i bought 12 dozen (144) small gold fish with a airstone could i keep them in a 55 gallon drum for a month or so and use my rainbarrel as a feeder tank. obviiously i would be feeding them but i thought this would be a good way to avoid taking up space in the house with another aquarium. and keeping me from running to the lfs every week, and to try gut loading. thanks in advance.

It could work but filtration would be a must for that many goldies. And might I suggest fathead minnows instead of goldies for they are more nutritious.

I used to keep Rosy Reds, but Ive heard that mosquitofish are much more nutritious, and theyre such tough little buggers you can keep them in about anything.
