Feeder vs Gar

So my baby 4" Fla Gar has been trying to eat this comet for about an hour now. He puts him in his mouth and chews and tries to swallow him. He fails every time, the goldfish is just a little too big I guess. When my Gar let's him go he just goes back to swimming around.. should I keep him in there? Can my Gar swallow him if he really wants to?

just take the goldfish out in case the gar try to eat it and get choke!

That goldfish is way too big; that gar should be on rosy reds at that size.

get dude he could choke if he gets it down to far and cant get it back out

Yeah I lost a bichir that tried to eat too big of a piece of shrimp and choked don't chance it.

It has been removed. He is good. I put feeder guppys in too but they are so tiny and no fish stores have rosy reds.

That's weird that no stores have rosy reds. Is there a PetCo, PetSmart, or other chain pet store near you? Those all should have rosy reds available unless they're sold out.

The guy at petco said they are illegal in my state... Which makes NOT sense whatsoever... It's a window ha-ha how is it illegal. So what to feed him now... Any ideas?

Most pet stores have small fish for $1. Zebra danios or something similar. Go spend $20 and gl!! They grow very fast.

Though, most petstores that have comets have a few different sizes. Ask for the smallest ones possible. My first gar was raised from under 3" so I know the difficulties.

you should get a very small tank like 10 gal or so and breed guppies and he will eat those 4 sure
