Anyone have any ideas on how to block off the overflow teeth so that small fish dont get sucked in?

Im thinking of a screen of some type that will just sit over the teeth and stay in place from the suction?

Any ideas?

in the past I have glued on plastic gutter guards cut to size

I put filter sponges around the teeth.

I use this stuff for a lot of things including overflow covers, but it does cut flow down a bit. I went from egg grate to this stuff and ended up having to cut the overflows down a ways, but if you're not running crazy flow rates it will be fine.....

I've also used the plastic getter guard from Menards, but needed something smaller when dealing with small feeders.

I've used zip ties on everything to hold it in place.

Lol! I had the same issue, so annoying ... I now have micron fabric sitting at the top of the overflow, and would keep the fish from going down ... in fact, it would keep them wet enough to survive, then I'd throw em back in ... very annoying though to take the covers off and get them ... I tried just putting a rubberband around to basically make the holes half as big, but that was annoying as well ... I know your an experienced hobbyist, so dont misunderstand me when I say this, but rather than dumping 30 feeders in or 50, or whatever, drop them in 1 at a time instead and keep the others in small tank ... or even a bucket with a filter ... it'll keep water/overflows cleaner and will train the fish to hit whatever falls in, thus making silverside/pellet training much easier .... I used to buy a bag of 500 comets weekly when my ATFs and everyone else were smaller and all in my 220, and man was that fun to watch!

I've used filtration sponge when that's happened to me. Just cut a piece that fits the length and slit it down the middle and slide it over the teeth. You will eventually need to clean it so the flow is good or you could just use it when you feed and take it off when finished

GREAT thread guys! Lots of good ideas in this one.

I'm gonna move this to setup and filtration.
