I have read in a previous thread that goldfish are very fatty and not a very good choice for a feeder..... well what is a better one???? if I bred convicts would there fry be a good choice???? also earth worms, leeches, and other fishing bait????

For fish it will be Convicts But if u know how to get worms up and running realy well and can make a load of them off house waste and other fun stuff i say worm box. i tried it ones i have all the stuff but havent got into again. If u have a fruit tree around like orange u can toss a few of them into the box along with uneaten food. Its realy nice cuz u get more plus with raising worms then breeding fish. Altho breeding is fun.

All those would be better than goldfish in the long run, it is not the fat in goldfish, it is thiaminase which can cause a vitimin deficiency disease.

Anybody know where to get small hatchery trout? For bass, it is the food of champions. Trout is why we have monster bass here in cali.

So if the fish is legal size I can take it to eat but not watch in a tank? Still, if you can get small trout for feeders that would be choice. Crawdad would be good as well.

The best thing you can do it try to convert it to pellets. It's gonna be very difficult to sustain a fully grown bass on feeders alone.

Crawdads, nightcrawlers, baby bass, bluegill, salamanders, healthy well fed Goldfish, shiners, crickets, worms, pinkie mice. Just make sure what You feed it is hopefully safe. As for feeding it pellets, good luck. I'm sure it's possible, but I don't agree with it. :)

id go to seven eleven and buy night crawlers

711 has night crawlers? lol. This has ran across my mind a few times, What about lizards? Im lucky to find these small lizard in the desert last week and wounder if they are ok for a bass. Might take one down to AC and ask them if they are poisoned.
