Interested in finding an individual who sells feeders (guppies or reds) in the central PA region. Looking for ~1/2"-3/4" feeders currently.

get a pair of convicts and breed them........Convicts are an endless supply of feeders....You can breed them up to three times a month......Fish under 3 inches usually have spawns ranging from 50 to just under a 100.......

thanks, I have seen this suggestion before, but I am not interested in a permanent feeder solution, although I guess I could feed the parents to the pbass when done...

I have yet to get a single "feeder" from this setup. How do you make it work?

I have two convict that are only around one inch each. I have had three spawns within the two months that I had them. In only one case out of the three was there any tank mates.

In all three cases the fry were hundreds of tiny (size of a pinhead). They are not 1/10th the way to "feeder" size at this point. In all three cases, there was not a single fry left after 24 hours.

In only one case "could" it have been fish OTHER than the two parent convicts eating the fry.

How do you ever manage to salvage convict fry and raise to the point of "feeders".

On a side note, I have had fantastic luck raising jewel cichlid fry. The only "challenge" that I have had with Jewel cichlid parents are that under no circumstance do they allow a tank mate to "live" through their spawn!

What tank mate was there, and what size tank? IMO if kept alone, alot of times they will turn on eachother out of boredom. From most of the cases of spousal abuse from convicts, they were kept alone in the tank. If you house 2 aggressive fish in a small tank, they're basically just ticking time bombs. Imagine putting 2 rottweilers in a cage. Now put those 2 in a football stadium, with a few smaller dogs. Odds are that they will alot less aggressive towards eachother. That's why I have found it a good practice to provide a fish for them to vent their anger out on; a target fish.

I am not far from you in Lewisburg. I have not seen any places around me that sells what you are looking for. Are you definitely only interested in guppies or reds?

I see that you are building a 500 gallon peacock bass tank. That is going to be awesome! Keep me posted!

It took several days to get them onto bloodworms, for a couple of days they had no interest in anything but feeders, and since my LFS ran out I was asking. Since then they are accepting frozen bloodworms voraciously so I'm not too concerned with feeders at the moment. For the build, just follow the thread :) Nice to find fellow central PA MFK members!

I am currently breeding feeder guppies, as well as marbled crays, and worms.

I plan on getting some tilapia and convicts in shortly and a stock of minnows (not rosy reds).

So once my breeding of feeders is all up and running if you're still looking for them, I can let you know once I'm ready to start selling.
