is it ok to feed 2'' pbass feeders until they are about 6''. i want them to be fat and strong when i start converting them. can i still get hole in the head if i wean them off at 6''. anybody suggest a smaller size before i start weaning?

i'll try dmack's method of dropping feeders and then gradually switching to grocery bought fish/cut up fish/shrimp/beefheart.

varied diet is best IMO besides switching them over might be hard so why not start with alittle bit of everything in the beginning....just my .02

they wont touch anything else but feeders and bloodworms. i'll do that for now and keep offering cutup fish, pellets and some beefheart.

Gut-load your feeders before offering them to your pbass. Feeders are near worthless by the time they reach your lfs since they're starved before and usually after transport. Bulk the feeders up with a good high protein flake or frozen food until they have nice size bellies on them. Then, feed them to the pbass so those nutrients pass on to them.

Agreed.

If you can bulk them up it will be a major benefit for the cichla.

feeders are definatly the way to go with small cichla.

any way they can get hole in the head at that young an age? how do i prevent? just make sure i feed fat and healthy feeders?
