I have a 6" dat who loves feeder comets from my lfs and 6 babies (2 adolescent) and they love brine shrimp. How can I put them on pellets to ensure better color and be free of parasites?

In my experience I've found that having them in tanks w/ tank mates that hit pellets hard helps, fishy see fishy do. In the case of my 2 ST's they've proven to be stubborn so I feed them cut up market shrimp and tilapia fillets hoping that one day they will learn from their tank mates.

+1 I will normally starve them until they jump on board, I have an NGT who refuses to eat pellets but loves frozen shrimp, its alot better than live feeders though.

Ask them nicely! If they don't comply, starve for a week and try again!

Comet goldfish are almost worse then no food.....

One of mine was very stubborn, not even wanted to look at pellets. Well, I added a school of red hooks and they slammed pellets constantly at feeding times. After 7-10 days, that stubborn dat started taking pellets. The key is you must have other dither fish that slam pellets hard.

The soaking method may work too as others have done it, but it may take a long time for a stubborn fish to take the first bite at pellets to start liking it.

With the babies what would I change from brine shrimp to? The adolecsnts love frozen blood worms so I am thinking if I cut up some frozen shrimp and stuff it with hikari arro pellets? I also have massivore sinking pellets.

you are the boss feed what you want not what the fish wants

it can take up to 6-8 weeks of no food for them to take pellets

dont starve just feed the tank with pellets daily EAT OR DIE
