Hi all,

So I recently got a Senegal Bichir about a week ago; I still have yet able to feed him the frozen brine shrimps I purchased at PetsMart...

Why? Because the feeders (zebra danios) completely devour it before it even gets a chance to hit the floor...not only that, the Bichir usually goes away.

I figured what the hell, I am going to increase my odds, so I threw in 3/4 of a cube (usually throw in 1/4), but again, the Danios ate it all...not only that, their stomach looked like it was about to burst...Indeed, in the morning of them was dead...probably due to overeating.

Anyhoo, what else do you guys recommend? One day he definitely ate one the Danios and his stomach looked way full, and I counted only 9 out of 10.

The danios will all eventually get eaten during the night.

You can try sinking pellets, omega one shrimp pellets are a good size, too big for the danios to eat.

he is still a juvi. wen he gets to about 6-7 inches the fish wont be able to escape him.

Use a piece of PVC pipe that is long enought to extend to the bottom of the tank. Drop the food through it.

I've tried that...I think I got a big pantsy...whenever hes at the bottom and I throw food at the bottom, he goes to the top...and vice-versa...maybe, Ill just wait until he settles abit more...

I've had excellent luck with HBH Super Soft Krill formula getting predators period to start taking pellets. My African knife wouldn't take anything but live until I tried it. Took it the first time kind of lack-a-daisically, second time he frenzied. My senegals all just munched until they couldn't find any more.

shrimp pellets . . . i have a 8-inch bichir and a little 4-incher, in 2 different tanks. both eat shrimp pellets. shrimp pellets are made for bottom feeders.
