I was thinking about gettin some feeders to breed in my extra tank. What do you all think is a good fish to feed young red bellies? I go to the pet store to get baby feeder guppies or mollies any way and they say its way easy to get them to breed and they breed there all the time. So i figured id save some cash and get my own to breed. They have all kinds of fish there. What kind do you all think I should get and how many? Thank you.

Personally I don't like to feed my piranha feeder nor recommend other to feed feeder. IMO feeder is just an entertain to see from people how cool is to feed piranha.

There are many types of food and diet out there that good for piranha such as

raw shrimp
scallop
talapia
blood worm
silver side
smelt
pallets
etc.... no need for feeder, it just brining deaseas to your piranha. However wild amazon is exception. But this is just me.

I will not feed my p's feeders as a staple. I feed mainly talipa and raw shrimp but i will throw in a feeder eveyonce in a while so what kinds of feeders are best?

feeders that have been quarantined. [:

He's not going to bring disease into his piranha's tank if he's doing the breeding himself.. Feeders have a reputation for being dirty and bringing in disease mostly because of the water conditions from overstocking in stores.

Anyways to answer your question guppies and mollys are great for this. I also have used convicts for this purpose. You'll probably get far more babies out of the convicts, but they're very small when born so it takes some time to grow them out. I'd say any of the (3) above fish would work well for what you're trying to do.

bro I recommend you to get your p's on pellets as a regular staple while they are young cause when they get bigger it gets harder....dont worry they will always eat there meat but not pellets....but if you really want to feed your p's feeders breed your own....mollys or guppys would do good...some guys do convicts...

Yes i am currently feeding pellets. Also I would use convicts but i only have a 10 gallon tank. I think they require bigger tanks that that dont they?
