In the fish section LOL
Are feeders as bad as people say they are as food for Peacock bass. Can they really destory a fish? I know they are the best food for pbass now doubt but what is the proper way to prepare them before feeding? soaking in melefix etc... Any advice is greatly appreciated

Thank you

I feed feeders to my fish including pbass as a treat maybe once a month. I usually keep them for a day or 2 add some salt to the water and feed them. I usually loose 2-4 of them, and I have not had any problems (knock on wood). I only buy them at one LFS because they keep them in nice tanks with clean water. Other stores I have seen have them in nasty tanks and grossly over crowded. Just be careful of the feeders you buy and where you buy them. Also feed them sparingly. Just my .02.

do you mean can they easily transfer disease? they arent usually kept in great conditions so... yes

got any bait shops around ya..I like fees med shiners to my bass..If there out then the occasional gold fish because there bigger..

it will depend sometimes on how ur LFS treats them. my LFS treats them as any other fish they have... so know where u buy them from. Its really good to quarantine ur feeders b4 feeding them. i put mine in a 5gallon tank with sponge filter and put the methalene blue or the the other green one for parasites. No problem so far.

i got some bad feeders once that killed off nearly a whole tank including a spotted gar, datnoid, and an albino senegal, some kind of viral infection i think, it happened within 2 days
