I've come across a gar which is about a little over an inch long. He's not eating any of the crushed shrimp I give him. I was thinking I should feed him frozen bloodworms but not sure. Anyone know what I should try to feed the litttle guy? I don't want him dying on me :(

baby guppies, baby brine shrimp, mosquito larvae. it is to small for prepared foods. do you have pics of him?

Maybe try live baby crickets as well , from what I have read they eat most things on the surface of the water when young.

Let you know as soon as you post pics for an ID... There should be no gar on the market or in the wild at that size right now... Need to see it... Feeding will depend on species.

My first thoughts exactly. By now they should all be a good 6+ inches long.

Guys he just died :(. He wouldn't accept any live foods either. For sure he was a gar, probably a florida/spotted.
