Hey guys so I made another post about this black piranha I am getting soon. He is supposedly 3/4-1 inch. How often should I feed him? I am thinking 2 smaller meals a day rather than 1 large one. Is that good? I think to start with I will be getting some shrimp from the store and soaking them in kent marine then freezing them. Does that all sound right?

Last time I owned a Black Rhom I fed it live SandNukka15 SandNukka15 what are your suggestions. Btw I hope I'm not pestering you.

Not At all....I try to help out as much as I can especially with piranhas....with my piranhas I have fed with this schedule.....up to 2 inches 2 times daily.... 3 inches once a day....4- inches 3 times a week...5-6 inches twice a week...and anything larger once a week.......my 10 inch blue diamond rhom gets fed once a week

For juvies i suggest

Brine shrimp
Blood worms
Flakes
Mini pellets

Try to get him to eat pellets at an early age if you can

You can also keep a school of long finned tetras for the rhom to nip at

To be honest..... baby Serrasalmus grow so slow that majority of hobbyist get so bored that they sell them off by the time they hit 3-4 inches...also most are shy and timid .....majority don't aggressive till they are large.....if you are looking for a beast I suggest investing in the biggest rhom you can

It will take 2 years for your rhom to reach 6-7 inches

I forgot to add that since it is almost an inch you can't I'd it properly so it might not even be a rhom....depending on collection point ....which I'm guessing peru.....it's probably a purple sanchezi ..red sanchezi .... rhom....or compressus

Like sandnukka said keeping a school of long finned tetras like black skirts is good idea when piranha is so small. Also I like to offer mysis shrimp and blood worms. When you start feeding frozen foods like store bought shrimp keep in mind how small the P is and make sure you are offering appropriate sized pieces.
