Hi everyone! Just wondering what most people would feed their juvie oscars? I have one guy (?gal) who is about 4" long. It gets fed cichlid pellets that it tends to devour. I am planning on starting supplementing with feeders just occasionally as I want it's main food source to be pellets and frozen foods. Any specific tips for this size fish?

Thanks!

They like peas, worms, crickets. Stay away from goldfish. Set a plate at the table and he'll probably pull up a chair.

i fed mine krill, worms, hikari cichlid gold, etc.

just stick with pellets

lol, dude oscars are hogs and i love it. be careful with feeders though. im sure you already know to raise your own or at least quarentine bought feeders. but i have oscars also and feeding them live feeders is the coolest thing to watch. i just love watching them go nuts and eat until they have half of one hangin out their mouth!m oh yea, and mine are about the same size. theyll eat feeders, shrimp bloodworms and pellets. haven t gotten the chance to try much else. ive only had them a week and a half

Thanks for the tips! I do have a spare tank to raise some guppies in for feeders to give once in awhile down the road if I need to. For now I will stick to frozen stuff and pellets!

Mine eats kernels of corn on occasion, a cheerio or two sometimes, cichlid pellets, krill, sometimes tubifex worms, and raw shrimp.

Seems to like shrimp, pellets, corn, krill, cheerios, tubifex in that order.

yea just stick with pellets feeder can give your fish hole in the head and they useally carry diseases so jut strick with pellets
