So i started to try to feed my snake 2 mice a week since shes getting a little bigger now. Shes only about a foot long if that. I waited 3 days to feed her and i put her in the feeding box with the mice well i walk away and come back when shes done and theres this liquidy type brown black looking stuff in the corner. I know when her poop is dried up its black so i m not sure if it was poop or if she had thrown up or something.
Well she ate the mice and i put her back in the cage and she went to her hide. So i m wondering was it poo or puke cuz i want to feed her two times a week but not if its goin hurt her.

If she pukes, it'll look like a mouse. If it's a few days after she eats, it'll look partly digested. I'd say it's feces.

A foot-long snake is pretty small. It shouldn't need to eat more than one mouse per week, depending on the species. Which, by the way, might be useful information in determining how much to feed.

And don't use a feeding box. Just feed her in her normal cage.

what species is it? 'snake' just doesn't cut it. one pinky a week for a foot long snake is plenty. 'pretty big' would be 3-4 feet for something that is 1 foot as a hatchling.

My ball python is about 3 1/2 foot long and eats 2 mice weekly. So, for a snake that is only a foot long 2 mice a week is too much IMO. Just cut the feedings down to one pinky a week until the snake is bigger and like every one else has said, just feed in the enclosure its less stress on the snake. What kind of snake are we talking about here?

I've seen a variety of snakes do this; defecate right after they eat.
I think it's pretty common.
I agree you are feeding too much.

It depend on the girth and species of snakes, as well as the size of the mouse. Geez guys, don't jump on him.

My Spotted Python was only a foot long to fourteen inches long, but could eat more than one pinkie, but was not ready to eat a fuzzie at the time, so I gave her two pinkies until she was ready to eat one fuzzie with a budge in her belly.

yup... what snake is it?
It'll be crap, from the previous meal. Some people like to wait until a snake defacates every X number of feeds, depending on species.

its a cornsnake and i may be feeding too much just wanted to see because it seemed like the mice i have are getting smaller for her so i thought maybe i should feed her more then 1 a week but if its fine to feed her 1 a week i ll stick with that. Plus i don't want a chubby little corn snake runnin around ;D

At that length, one pinky a week should be fine. Or three pinkies every two weeks might be good, but I'd wait until she's a few inches longer.
