Feeding ? about juvie dovii

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I feed my 3 incher Bio gold + every day and market shrimp twice a week, the shrimp make him grow like crazy and are really high in protien, the pellets have vegies and all the other good stuff to keep them internaly clean and provide vitiamins and minerals for a healthy immune

Im sure it has good benifits but IMO a good pellet and frozen food is optimum for fish. Remeber Dovii is a piscavore so it will go its entire life eating meat and has the ability to grow huge and healthy. Probaly the only veg it will get is what ever is in the fish it eats belly lol

as far as im aware a dovii is a carnivore not a omnivore ....

would you feed a lion a peas and potato ?

If you can get them to take some veggies then great. In there natural habitat they feed on plant matter.

Dovii are strickly fish eaters and do not eat plants!

My dovii was introduced to my tank not eating any pellets that were offered to her i have a Costa Rica one about 5-6"in. I feed mine live food that i get the Hikari food sticks and Cichlid Gold to make up for the proper vitamins the whole pellets would give to her that way she would have more of an enhanced diet every time she's fed the live foods and are which sterilized from any diseases before feeding.

That's awesome your dovii accepts peas. Just stay away from corn. As long as your not feeding as a staple and just offering to throw variety it will do nothing but give extra nutrition. Sure, dovii dont eat peas in the wild but peas are good and why should dovii miss out?
