I have an assortment of African Cichlids I was wondering what kind of foods the serious cichlid enthusiasts are using. I'm currently using Ocean Nutrition's Omni Formula flakes as well as green seaweed Sea Veggies. Also I have been experimenting with live wax worms, the kind I usually feed my lizards. Any comments on the wax worms

I've thrown extra waxies from ice fishing into my tank and the large guys hammered them. As for regular diet it consists mainly of NLS pellets in Xlarge and medium and a couple of different flakes (Omega One brands). A couple of times a week I give frozen bloodworms, frozen krill, market shrimp and a frozen SW angelfood that contains a lot of kelp and spriulina. I've done away w/frozen brine as I've been told it contain a lot of phosphorus and I have a bad phosphate problem w/ my city water. Otherwise I would feed them that because they love brine.

I feed frozen blood worms (some africans cant have these so might want to look it up first), NLS sinking pellets 2 and 3mm, spirulina flakes and omega one shrimp pellets and freeze dried krill.

Throw them some frozen peas they love them. Frozen beef heart and a good pellet and flake.

overall, I feed lots of stuff, since I have many different type tanks....
Hap,peacock, tang-NLS, Omega 1 flakes, live brine
mbuna, hap- NLS, live brine, lettuce, and sometime forzen brine
peacocks-NLS
shellies- Omega 1 flake, brine, NLS

I also am having trouble with feeding my most prized frontosa, all of my other fish are such veracious feeders that they pretty much leave nothing for my baby. He is the Largest in the tank and is one of the healthiest specimen I have had the pleasure of owning. I know they are not as aggressive as my other cichs, thats why I made sure he was the largest in the tank. He will get scraps but nothing like what my experience with these guys has suggested in past. Has anyone encountered this problem before? Oh yeah, I'm feeding frozen blood worms, frozen krill, omega one flakes, pellets, dried green sea kelp, and ghost shrimp.

i dont expiriment much with food but ill tell you Omega One flakes are some good flakes. and hikari pellets.
