How long should I wait before feeding a newly acquired stingray(approx 5" motoro)? After starting with live bloodworm, how long will it take to get it onto shrimp? I don't like feeding live bw because most of the catfishes steal them away

I fed my stingray about 15 min after he was first introduced in to the tank and he ate. So you can feed them almost as soon as you put them in the tank. As far as getting them onto a different food, some will accept it faster than others, and some may take longer. It all depends on the individual ray.

It took me 3 days before my ray starts to eat shrimp. Just be patient and he'll accept the shrimp.

Right now he swims slowly on the bottom and sometimes on the back side of the tank. He wouldn't eat shrimp though. I will try live bloodworms tomorrow

btw, I got it from John of ECZS today. Great guy to buy from and very healthy specimens

it if wont take shrimps, fatten it up with blackworms for a 2-3 weeks first.. get it acclimated first and then try starving it for a few days so it takes shrimps. Not all rays will eat shrimps though..some are just stubborn.

give him time.. some rays take awhile to get used to their new surroundings.

It can be very hard to get some rays on shrimp. Im having these problems with my tiger right now. Eventually I will get him

I try feeding right when acclimating even. I just try whatever it was last given. Sometimes it takes it, other times it doesnt. Otherwise I just feed it in a couple hours once in the tank
