I finally got my new male greenie on pellets. I've never had a sunfish (or any fish for that matter) as big as him. He is about 3.75" long and maybe 0.75" thick at the widest.

How many pellets should I feed him per day? The pellets I have now are Pure Aquatic Cichlid pellets that I got as a free sample. I don't care for the ingredient list, so now that he's pellet trained I'll be buying some NLS or Hikari pellets.

I will continue feeding him live food on a regular basis, but pellets will be the base of his diet.

Thanks!

Bottom of the fish between ventral fins and vent should be flat or slightly convex, never concave. Use earthworms and crickets along with veggie foods and you're good to go. And keep those nitrates as low as you can.

I feed my green until he gets full. When he's full, he will swim away and refuse or only mouth any leftover food.
