I have a tire track eel with an arowana and a feisty female rd...and a pack of clown loaches. It seems I have to overfeed the tank so that enough food will be left for the shy eel. I have floating pellets that the aro kills, and the rd steals a few bites of. I use sinking pellets and wafers for the loaches and rd. I've been dropping in ghost shrimp for the eel, but I have to put in a lot of them because everything else in the tank will eat them as well. The tank gets pretty messy after all that feeding. Im hoping there is a better way to feed the eel.

How do you feed your eels?

Long feeding tongs.

I use to use those black tongs they sell for platning plants but i would put bloodworms at the end of it and take it down to my tire track

I agree try using a baster and getting food down to him. How big is your tiretrack? Maybe he is scared of the other fish. I have a tiretrack and he comes up to the top at feeding time...he is a pig and always gets his food. I feed my krill and shrimp,,,he is a very aggressive eater.

I leave a PVC pipe permanently in place and drop sinking food down it. The eel soon learns to hover near the bottom of it during feeding time. You could make this a clear tube if this is a display tank but I use ordinary PVC pipe.

Nice idea. I will try that with my Tire Track. Thanks

Its kinda like the PVC method, put whatever your feeding it inside a bottle (if frozen thaw first) big enough for your eel to fit in and then sink it! No one else will be able to get in there so your eel can feed in peace! Btw with live ghost shrimp this may not be the best method but should work
