I'm new to the aro world, so I'd like to get some perspectives on feeding from the experts. Here is my mulit part question. How big is your aro, what do you feed him and how often?

Perhaps we should start by knowing what you have...would be easier...

6" Jar, I'm feeding him blood worms and crickets right now once a day. I alternate between the two.

I would feed him 2 or 3 times a day. perhaps you should start to try to feed him frozen krill.. make sure it stays afloat because not every aro is a diver for food. Most of them just ignore food on the bottom.

what size is the tank you the jar in?

mine didnt swim after sinking food either untill he became a bit bigger. still not diving deeper than 20cm atm but i guess it will come with size. i feed my 11" black two or three times a day and try to give him a varied diet as possible.

My tank is 90 gallons. I have a CK (about 6" as well) and Pleco as tank mates. I plan to upgrade to a 180 or 200 when they get a little bigger. Sounds like I need to increase the freqency of feeding and mix it up a little bit more. Thanks for the feedback.

i have 3 aros, 1 6" leichardti that eats floating fd krill about twice a day, then my 2ft silver aro that eats every other day and gets market shrimp in LARGE portions. im talkin about 1/4lb sometimes more, and my 18"er gets market shrimp every other day as well n he eats a lil less then the big guy, the 2 silvers are in a 400gal tank, the leichardti is in a 150gal

I used to feed my jar. mealworms, market shrimp, dry shrimp, blood worms and crikets... I would feed dry shrimp daily... and alternate other foods... I was feeding him 2x a day (and man he grew quick with nice colors too)
