Feeding Arowanas

what should you feed arowanas and when you should feed certain foods, such as baby foods, mid-size foods, and adult foods for arowanas. if you want to get indept, then state which species of arowana should get certain foods.

Asian Arowana:
Adult Size:Centipede,Frog,Big Earth Worm,Super Worm,Market Prawn,Pellets,Meal Worm,Feeders(Not Recommended),Cricket,Krills,bloodworm,Beef Heart
Mid Size:Centipede,Frog,Earth Worm,Super Worm,Market Prawn,Pellets,Meal Worm,Feeders(Not Recommended),Cricket,Krills,bloodworm,Beef Heart
Baby Size:bloodworms,guppys(not to much),small pellets,cut up mealworm,small cricket

Black/Silver Arowana:
Adult Size: Meal,Super,Blood,Earth Worm,Beef Heart,Krills,Pellets,Rats,Feeder(not recommended),Crickets,Market Prawn

Mid Size:Same As Adult but baby rats

Baby Size:blood worm,small cricket,guppy,small pellets,cut up worm

Australian Arowana:same as black/silver
Adult Size:same as black/silver

MidSize:same as black/silver

Baby Size:same as black/silver

African Arowana:
Adult Size:Meal,Super,Blood,Earth,black worm,krills,pellets,market prawn,possibley feeders(not recommended)

Mid Size:Same as Adult Size

Baby Size:blood/black worm

^ looks about right, except it would be a bit impractical to feed adult arowanas bloodworms. More for younger arowanas.

I usually go from bloodworms as a baby, straight to shrimp/pellets into adulthood.

never had a baby one,

that said mine started in my possesion at about 5 inches......

been on pellets, shrimp, tilapia, feeders(after QT), and nightcrawlers

Oh ya no doubt they will eat it, but it gets really expensive! A full grown arowana can probably eat a full tray per feeding. MP or pellets would be cheaper and more nutritious.

you shouldn't be feeding fish mamal meats, as in mice, and beefhearts. Fish dont digest them easily, thus making your fish sick eventually.

this is what i do:

Baby silver/black/jardini 1-3"- feed em small pieces on krill, freeze dried bloodworms, and guppies
4-6" krill bloodworms and try to get them off live fish
6"+ Hikari floating pelets, bloodworms, krill, baby frozen mice (once ina while as a treat)

Im not sure if the asains need dif diet
