I have a couple Fry in a new 500 gallon pond along with a fairly large catfish, a bluegill and a small perch. Whats the best thing to feed these fish? Not worried about the catfish. I think he eats almost everything I put in there (except the fry so far). 2 dozzen rosey reds disappeared over night. Think the small fish ate them or the catfish? Im worried they might starve because of the catfish. Any way to know if they are eating without actually seeing them eat? Will nature help out with live food they will eat?

Watch out for that catfish. Sounds like you have a good thing going. Your fish should get a bunch of stuff outdoors: bugs, lavae etc... You can also feed them crickets and worms. I feed my bass and sunnies cichlid pellets as a staple, they love 'em. Hard to tell if the fish are eating without seeing, but if they are growing, they're eating.

My perch love munching on bloodworms and earthworms. I started them on earthworms so they would hit the movement, and then mixing bloodworms and earthworms and now i can feed them just frozen bloodworms and they gobble them up.
I also got them on silver sides, but i think they picked that up from my channels eatting them.
If the bass are still fry, I would try feeding earthworms (red wigglers or the small ones you find in your yard, not the big lethargic nightcrawlers you get from the bait shop) and bloodworms. Anyway you could divide your pond so the cats and other fish are seperated? that way you could track what the other fish are eating.

How big are the Bass?

Try to get the cat full before feeding the others. The Perch and Gill probally took down some of the rosies. Try small worms for the Bass.

catfish pretty much try to eat anything that they think can fit in their mouth so id be careful you might lose some bass :( other than that mine loved worms, i trained it on cichlid pellets, and it ate catfish filets. it was 2" long when i first got it, then my bluegill got territorial after like 4 months and killed it

the catfish used to eat market shrimp and massivore delight pellets in the tank. Now he seems more finiky. Im trying small pieces of market shrimp as a general food for all the smaller fish and larger raw shrimp for the catfish for the time being. My bigger bass eat the market shrimp pretty well
