I'd like some opinions on the best foods for betas. I know there are lots of options out there, but it seems that experience and knowledge win out on what the best things to feed are.

What do you think?

I would say a good variety would be the first thing. But I would say betta flakes would be a good thing to feed most of the time because it has everything they need. With my Oscar I feed him mostly cichlid pellets probaly 4 times out of a week them the other three days something different like shrimp blood worms etc

Any particular brand you'd recommend? I'm feeding Kent Platnum Betta Pellets now. Giving him the occaisonal cricket.

mine love pemysis.

I Feed my Girlfriends Hikari betta-bio gold and tetra mix, I tried the blood worms but he ignored them and they just sat there till I removed them.

I use hikari betta bio gold. Also bloodworms and live brine shrimp are great. Don't feed adults every single day; keep in mind their slow metabolisms.

Mine gets small amounts of food every day and it's never done him any harm. Maybe 3 granules of beta-sized food. Had the same problem with bloodworms. He just doesn't seem to think they are food. Loves itsy living things though. Are fruit flys ok?

Feeding every day may end up shortening its life span a little. But if it's working for you, I'm not going to judge.

I'm not sure what to recommend about the bloodworms. It's strange, considering every betta I have had gobbles up bloodworms like there is no tomorrow. Perhaps starve it for a few days?
I'm sure fruit flies will work fine as a food source.
