So this morning I picked up two baby SB faders about .75-1" long, and the breeder said to feed them nothing but BW for the first month-6weeks. Just wondering if anyone has used this feeding method and to what results? His seem to grow very well with nice KOK development, but I'm worried about the overall health of the fish. not that his looked off , quite the opposite in fact. But I just want to be sure this kind of feeding wont mess these guys up in the future.
Cheers

Feeding an exclusive diet of BW is certainly not what I would consider an ideal diet for any juvenile fish, including FH. While I understand that many FH breeders in Asia use this method, there are far better methods to provide optimum nutrition to a young fish.

That's what I was thinking too. I was thinking Bio-Gold am and pm and BW at noon along with mashed peas every 3-4 days. Think that would cover the nutritional basics or would you suggest something else?

That would be far better than an exclusive diet of BW. Some breeders believe that a diet high in BW increases kok size & growth - to which I say BS. :)
BW are ok for a treat, but are nutrient deficient in many areas & most definitely not the best way to raise young fish.

I don't know why a lot of the bonsai I have seen are faders.

I would assume it's due to the BP in them? What are you feeding your little FH and BP?

i think developing a fry is like one of the most difficult things in fish breeding.....
anyway ,,,, if u r able to do it.....its gr8 of u
