I just recently aquired an African Brown Knife fish, and i Have it alone right now in a 20 gallon it is only about 5in long and i have tried putting feeder shrimp and feeder fish in the tank but it seems like he sin't showing much intrest in them....not really sure what else i should try feeding him i have frozen brine shrimp but i am pretty sure that will all just fall apart before i gets down to him on the bottom, or get stuck in all the plant cover i have in there for him.....any help would be appreciated thanks.

;) The fact that you just recently acquired him is the thing. Very shy when first introduced. Give him some time to get used to his new home. Make sure there's a place for him to hide. Try feeding him after lites out. Brine shimp, tubifex worms, baby guppies, insect larvae. Also prepare for a larger tank. Slow grower but will eventually max about 10 ins. "T"

do you have any hiding spots for the knife? browns usually are very shy especially at first. adding shelter and hiding spots will help them feel more comfortable. also, be aware that they are mainly nocturnal and will probably eat at night. are you sure he hasn't eaten when you are sleeping? don't fret, he will eat when he feels comfortable. try feeding using a turkey baster and shoot the bloodworms, krill or flakes gently into the general area he is in. i trained mine to know that he is being fed by this method and he actually swims up to and waits at the end of the baster.

i have a knife and the only way to feed mine during the day/have the light on is by hand in his cave .. other then that it HAS to be dark or he will not come out .. mine eats sinking carnivorous pellets and wont really touch anything else
