Not all fish should be fed to cichlids out of the lakes and rivers..but I used feed gambusias to my festaes when they was young and fed them aquatic insects and small crayfishes and they grew real fast so did my doviis I used to have..but as far as minnows and China and breams no..now I grow my own tetras,brycons, hippies,etc in a pool I bought ..to make it more natural food that they eat..I never feed my fish frozen or dried foods..but its hard work..but the result is top notch.
