So I'm setting up a new 75 gallon community tank full of livebearers can I throw the extra babies I'm sure I will have a lot into my big tank like twice a month? with my oscar and Jack dempsey ?

I know it's not necessary I just know I will have way to many fish in this tank quickly figured it would be a good way to get rid of extra livestock and have a fun food source for the big fish once in a while. Just didn't know if it would be okay for them. They should remain parasite free since they will be born in a good environment. I hope

I commonly do that.

I currently have an Apisto tank that also hosts a breeding colony of guppies. It's been at a harmonious balance for a couple of years.

I have previously set up set ups with larger fish that had areas that livebearers could fit in that the Cichlids couldn't. This allowed the livebearers to keep a base number of fish and those that couldn't hide, got eaten.

It seems to me that allowing my predator fish to exercise that nature would be healthy for them. It also makes watching the tank more interesting.

Thanks for that info kind of what I was thinking that it could be a little more exciting to watch an Oscar jd and firemouth actively feed a few times a month and let the predator instincts take over!
