I just wanted to know if anybody else as fed any of there cichlids pinkies, I used to feed my old 15in. male dovii pinkies he LOVED them, and no I am not talking about exclusively his staple was freeze dried krill. That was all he would eat period krill and pinkies the pinkies were fed only once every few weeks or once a month or so, oh yea and he ate nightcrawlers NOTHING else, and he was 2-3in. when I bought him and he hit the 15in. mark in about ONE YEAR :WHOA::WHOA:

I put him in an outdoor pond went to work one sunday and came home and he was GONE no body no nothing I HAVE NO CLUE wat happen:cry::cry::cry:

Probably a great blue herring, my aunt and uncle have problems with them with their koi ponds... Solution? put a plastic great blue herring near the pond, and they won't come down, because they're solitary hunters :)

Mammal meat isn't that great for their health. With all the other food options - feeder fish, frozen foods, and pellets - there is no point to feed pinkies.

I've never done it and I doubt that I would ever do it. I have seen it quite a bit on Youtube though. I try to keep my fish on pellets, fresh and frozen seafood, and insects. I've only had a few fish that I think would even be capable of consuming a pinky.

thats why the pinkies were every once in a while, and that is just fine because yes they would get some mammal meat once every blue moon in the wild, mice do swim and so do alot of other small mammals

Reagons old 22in. dovii R.I.P. used to jump out of the water in his outdoor pond and snatch small birds which forced him to bring him in to the indoor pond

i dont think its neccessary but its your fish..

Yeah, I'm not saying I think it's horrible to do every once it a while. I'm just saying there's no point at all.

I wouldn't... I don't even feed my reptiles pinky mice because they are so high in fat. If you are going to feed rodents at least feed fuzzies or something. Pinkies are basically balls of fat. Not great for any animal really.
