So i live close to Marina and there are lots of crabs near the ocean. I can catch many of these guys and wanted to know. Would they have diseases or other bad things? he loves crab and crayfish cuz for his teeth its a good idea but im scared of parasite and other diseases that might hurt him. its near Marina Del Ray. i would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks,

bring them home, clean them, kill them and freeze them for a few days and it should kill off most if not all the nasties...

Out of a marina? How clean is the water?
Oils etc, but also antifoulant paints from the boat-bottoms and creosote from the pilings themselves. Crabs are fatty, so will tend to accumulate organic toxins. Then puffers are particularly susceptible to such toxins (like loaches & eels), aren't they?
Might be better to set up a 10G with home-made seawater and purge them for a week or two. Purge them on prawns & peas- call it gut-loading.

I believe you are right but you Think by just feeding them good for 2 weeks it's gonna kill all the toxic and others? Do you think should I just forget about it?

so play it safe and keep 'em for a month, or until/through the first (or second) moult(s). If they're little crabs you should be able to overload them with "good" to one extent or another. Might make sense to starve them (crabs) for a week (or more) to burn out the potentially toxic fats, then re-load them with clean foods. All speculative, of course. Don't forget about it- i just started doing the same (for loaches) this AM based on your idea :)
Our water's pretty clean, but for occasional diesel spills. Problem was that I dip-netted for 10 minutes and caught.... 2 tiny tiny crabs. So not terribly productive.
