I would be worried about chemicals they get into if you live in a or near an urban place but guessing if yo uare out in the country than it would probably be good for them. But that is just a guess I am curious what others say.
I feed my fish crickets i found around my house, sometime earthworms too but I have to rinse them clean, I'm not sure about cockroaches though...it's just ewww to me
My fish gets all sorts of bugs and natural live goodies during the warm seasons. My favorite thing is catching live moths and throwing it under the glass canopy, and watch the fish all go crazy trying to catch it as its flying around between the water surface and the canopy.
avoid areas that may be contaminated and your golden terrestrial live food can't transfer disease as easily if at all to your fish so thats the other plus of feeding bugs and worms from outside.
Thanks for the replies. Found a big 1" cricket in my apartment this morning and threw it in. My small salvini devoured it so got me thinking about other stuff. Time to dig for worms.
