Well, last week one of my bichirs decided that he really wanted to see what a molly tasted like. He only bit it, but the molly died a few hours later. So, I was about to throw him away and then I stopped and thought "Why can't I just feed him to my bichir?" That's what the bichir was trying to do in the first place anyway. (I was really sad that the molly died, but I didn't want to let him go to waste.)
So after that I was wondering if it would be a good idea to get dead fish from the petstore and freeze them for a few days and then feed them to the bichirs. The freezing would probably get rid of diseases, so I'm trying to see if there are any downsides...
Anybody have any thoughts about this? It would certainly be a lot lighter on my wallet if I could do this. And the petstores would be fine with getting rid of their dead fish.

It would be fine, you could even freeze ghost shrimp.

But about the petstores that will get rid of thier dead fish, i wouldn't do it becoz most fishes that dies in the petshops are sick.

freezing does not get rid of diseases, it actually preserves them better. you could actually boil them for like 5 minutes, then freeze them and use them as needed, throw the fish immediatly into a bowl of ice waterafter boiling.

ya most fish in my petstores that i go to die from ick....... the people dont even o anything about it. it is really sad when you see a bunch of baby clown loaches that are on theres sides barely alive with little white dots EVERYWHERE!

I wouldnt do it if i where you. Have you seen how nasty most petstores are...do you think those fish die naturally.

Listen to everyone. Not worth risking. It'll be like playing Russian roulette with your polys.
