I'm wondering if it would be safe to feed an RTC dead fish such as frozen minnows and other small fish whole.

I've kept it on a diet of anything but fish (shrimp, clams, bloodworms etc), for fear that it may get a taste for it and possibly go for its tankmates... any input?

Just wondering bc...nutrition table-wise, it seems better than the others I'm feeding it. Plus the super market is selling bags for 1.99 that can last me a month.

when i dont have time to get mt rtc feeder fish i feed him the frozen silver sides. he'll eat them right outta my hand its actually quite cool. ours has grown so fast its almost like he's on steriods..

That will be fine. Many people here use market fish fillets as well.

I feed my CK smelt... i dont see the problem. not as fresh but he will love it.

What are the cats tankmates? I think they will get a taste for all tankmates that are small enough regardless of what you are feeding.

While I agree with what has been said I was tempted to reply to the thread heading "Feeding dead minnows" by saying that I have never had much luck getting dead minnows to eat.

i feed thawed out bluegills to my alligator snapping turtle. when i had my alligator gar i would slice up frozen bluegills and thaw out slices and he will eat them. im gonna start doing this with my black piranha as well......
