If a fish is eating pellets is there any benefit to feeding different types or brands of pellet or are they all the same? Say a peacock bass is eating hikari massivore is there any reason to also feed food sticks or cichlid gold? Thanks!

Big difference in content like NLS Algaemax versus regular NLS. Look at the ingredient list.

I always figure best to feed a variety. Not necessarily for the different nutrient content assuming you're feeding good quality pellet though that won't hurt. More so your fish don't get used to only eating a single type of food and end up being picky little brats if you change.

Good point. My fish all eat almost everything & anything, although there are a couple of commercial foods that my midas simply refuses to eat. I wouldn't have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own 2 eyes, as he has eaten dang near everything & anything over the years. One of the most recent foods that I offered up he got so worked up over the taste and smell that he refused to not only eat that formula (he eats another formula of the same brand on a regular basis) but he refused to eat anything else when I offered that particular food. He went on a rampage biting the glass, splashing water, carrying on just like a spoiled brat, and left all food at the bottom of the tank. Next day I went back to his regular foods that I know he eats well, and he went back to his normal self. I tried it 3 times, and all 3 times got the same result. All my other fish eat it with no issue. What a drama queen! lol

I tried a floating pellet figuring less waste and my blue acaras wont touch them. Tried a veggie based pellet as well and for the first few weeks the acara wouldnt even touch them. But i do try and vary the food up as much as possible.

Yeah that's a problem I have with a couple of my fish. I created picky brats by only feeding one type of food lol.

On the flip side, yrs back I fed the exact same brand & formula for a decade to all of the fish in one of my tanks. No issues, they all lived long healthy lives, probably a lot longer than they would have in the wild. (African cichlids) I had no intention in changing their diet so that wasn't an issue.
