A quick diet question for anyone who wants to answer.....I read somewhere on MFK that I could try to give my ck some shrimp. Any specific type of shrimp? I bought some frozen raw shrimp yesterday (as opposed to the frozen pre-cooked orange shrimp) and tossed in a small piece. As soon as it sunk the ck acted excited like he does for goldfish. He immediatedly hit it a couple of times and then backed off. He was excited for a while and kept going to the shrimp but it doesnt seem like he's done anything else with it. That was yesterday. I think maybe I should have let the shrimp thaw before putting it in the tank. I just cut off a piece of shrimp. I wouldn't think how it was cut would make a difference, would it?

I'm going to buy some pellets today but this fish seems kind of stubborn. He has no interest in krill at all and shrimp isn't looking like a winner yet. I think he was just fed goldfish until I got him.

It means that it smells food, but it doesn't recognize it as food. Give it time. I prefer to give raw shrimp. If it's a large piece, it should be cut down to size. Personally, I thaw out most of my frozen food that I feed to my fish. The only thing I don't thaw out are the frozen bloodworms that I feed my Dats since they melt in 30 seconds. Just give it some time. If you just started yesterday, starve it for a couple of days and then throw in some thawed cut pieces of shrimp. Try it out for a week or two.

Thanks for the advice. I thawed some out and I think he might have eaten a little of it. But I did have a couple of goldfish left and I don't want them so I tossed them in with the ck last night. That will be the last goldfish he sees for a while.
