Hi

I have a 5-6 inch dovii and he's doesn't really eat pellets, at least i haven't seen him swallow any lately. I've tried several brands and type of pellet and he's just wouldn't eat them, he sometime put it in mouth but spit it a few second's later.

He do eat dried plankton, krill, bloodworm's and frozen silverfish. If the extra work and money isn't really an issue, can a dovii grow and thrive on diet mainly composed of dried and frozen food?

Thank for any input!

have you tried tetras cichlid flakes? It honestly took me about 7 months to get my jack dempsey to even eat flakes now.The only thing he would eat was just krill, but now he is on the right track of a better diet.

I say that you starve the dovii for at least 1 week then try to feed some pellets. Then if the dovii still doesnt accept the pellets then try this process again

Starved him for 2 weeks and still no luck. He doesn't eat flakes either, beside how much flakes he will need once he's over 12 inch Hehe.

Let's say I only feed him dried and frozen foods, will he be missing any vital vitamins and/or minerals?

Thank

Try market shrimp, krill, massivore delight. Fast him for about a week and raise the temp a little to spike his metabolism. He will eat.

Hi

I've try market shrimp, massivore delight, Hikari Food Stick, New Life Spectrum floating and sinking type, Omega One floating pellet without any luck so far. Haven't try frozen krill but he does eat dried krill so I'm guessing he will eat those.

During the fasting period, do I keep trying to feed him pellet everyday or should I just stop trying to feed him completely? Been trying to feed him for 2 weeks with just pellets and I haven't seen him swallow a pellet.

Thank

Try Hikari Cichlid Gold +. It has garlic in it to help get the hard asses to eat it and is for carnivorous species. I would not feed him anything but this untill he accepts.......he won't starve to death. Then start introducing the massivore delight and a few others for treats.

op, your saying a fish that you starved for a week wont take market shrimp?! never heard of that. is there any bullying going on in the tank?
