I have a 35 to 40 cm fire eel.
currently its entire diet consists of HIKARI jumbo sticks and Massivore. i feed both each time.

in a single feed, it will happily eat 8 to 10 jumbo sticks, and 4 to 5 massivore roughly but what happens is that it wont feed for the next 2 to 3 days, then same thing.

is it better to feed it small bits daily and encourange it to eat daily rather than having it gorge masses of food then not eat for a few days?

i want maximum growht, growth has been very good, its getting very very stocky for its length,

I have a fire eel about 30cm and feed it about 3 times a week by handfeeding raw prawn mixed in with hikari carnivore pellets. It would probably grow faster if you fed it every day but it shouldn't matter that much, more important is water quality and space. If its growing well now don't change your routine, you don't want to overfeed an eel, especially with stuff like massivore that expands after its been eaten. A healthy fish is a lean and active fish not some huge fatty lol.

Generally I would feed to satation then feed again in a few days... but as stated above...when feeding pellets that expand in the stomach... this can be a bad idea. I would pre-soak the pellets well so they are expansed as much as possible prior to feeding if possible... then you can feed to satation... which imo is best for growth. I would also have some concern for growth... any fish that is fat.. but not growing is haveing a potential for nutrition defficencies. I feed all my spineys nightcrawlers... which are lean, and protein rich... you may want to look for a pellet that has more protein ect and less fats.. from what I remember hikari is notoriouse for haveing high fat, high carb based foods. FW prawns would be a good add to it's diet as well as leaner cuts of fish to take up the space of the pellets yet fill the fish up still.
