Bugs i guess in nature is part of a lot of fishes diets, as for peas, i have read about it being a snack, but cant remember the reasons

Peas are natural laxitive to fish. So if you ever have fish with bloat it can clear them out.

As far as bugs I use freeze dried meal worms as a stable for my archers as they are natural inscectivore

I have seen peas and bugs referenced quite a bit, but did not find a topic on it any suggestions? I also don't want them on hikari anymore
Why don't you want them on hikari anymore?

Peas are laxative, but I either can't get fish to eat them at all, or not enough to 'work' 100%. Epsom salt is easier for that issue, it avoids frustration. but probably depends on which species and/or individual fish.

I feed peas to my fish on occasion. I have a giant gourami and he will literally devour anything that touches the water. veggies, fruit, seeds, meat, fish anything. he is a true omnivore. he really loves melon as well as peas. my tinfoil barbs are also just as greedy. seems to be rubbing off on my chocolate cichlid too because he all of a sudden can't get enough of the veggies.

Hello; I have fed peas many times with good results.
Bugs could present potential problems as some have various toxins and stingers if you are thinking of catching bugs at random.
I have raised vestegial wing fruit flies for fish food many times. They are useful for top water feeding fish and can be taken by fish with smaller mouths.
I have thrown in the occasional house fly that has been killed with a swatter.
Crickets should likely be safe for fish and are often available at pet or fishing stores.
