I'm noticing with my two flowers that they appear to eat way more than the motoros I have and have had, and are always looking for more food.

Does anyone else with flowers/tigers find that they eat much more than other species of ray when they're the same size? Pretty sure if I gave her all she wanted, my 10" female would eat at least two dozen big nightcrawlers a day, probably more, and I think my 12" motoro might eat 15-20 at the most (not that I'm complaining after all she's been through).

one of my tigers would eat more than the motoro's i had but i would only notice this at cooler temps.... what temp is your tank kyle?

My flower is a pig. I had a post about how aggressive she is. She is actually fairly thin. I feed her twice a day and feed her until he back bulges but she moves all the time and burns it right off.

I am working on lowering my tank temp due to pump issues. It is at 88 right now and my flower out eats my castexi and motoros. When my new pump comes in and my temp gets lower I will let you know how her behavior changes.

i would not think that flowers would be a aggressive feeder. that is interesting. all my rays are motoros and i notice some have stronger appetites than others despite there size.

I don't know if you saw my thread for my aggressive flower, but she will bite you hands if you are holding food and she bites the other rays when searching for food all day. She never sits still.

your temp being do high will increase her metabilism... lower temp will help her hold the weight....

Nic - temp is about 82, maybe 82.5. So you've found that if it were warmer, say 84-86 that they actually ate less?

only with the tigers i kept... others have been telling me warmer water is what theres do better in..

maybe vent the stand on the sides and a few small fans... those 9" box fans aat walmart work great.... just let it blow over the water....
