I have had my Frontosa since he was one inch long and I have been feeding him flakes since I got him. He is now about two and a half inches and it seems like flakes are just not enough food for him anymore (and it makes a mess in the tank). I bought hikari cichlid gold sinking pellets and have tried to put some in the tank but the frontosa shows no interest in them. How do I wean my frontosa off of flakes and get him eating pellets? Thanks!

Just keep feeding the pellets. You might have to switch brands until you find one he likes. New life spectrum has a pellet with garlic that might help. I also agree with feeding pellets with frozen foods. Your fish wont starve after one day so dont be afraid to take him off flakes completely and switch to pellets for a few days. He should get it eventually.
