now i have seen many posts on what everyone like to feed but just curious on other types of food ppl use im more curious in live feedings i know the rays love to search the sand but i notice they will go for small fish too .. anybody use this as a regular food supply ? and what are you using ?

thanx

for the most part..... no , the problem with live food is that you run the risk of introducing parasites each time u bring some in.... ghost shrimp and black worms are the best to get rays eating and then switch up to nightcrawlers then then onto shrimp and silversides

I throw in a few dozen ghost shrimp every once in awhile. My ray is fairly small, and I was previously thinking of getting a bag full of Neons, but I decided against it for that exact reason. I've been offering pellets soaked in with bloodworms and garlic extract lately. I've been offering Hikari Sinking cichlid pellets, Carnivore, and Marine-A, but no luck so far. It's only been a couple days, and I'll keep offering it. I'm going to soak the pellets in shrimp water today and give that a shot.

You can always put the neons in a planted, smaller, tank, until ready for consumption. Thats what I do. Rays do not eat rummynose though for whatever reason.

I considered that too. I have a quarantine tank for the loaches, but it would be a pain to catch them, and I don't see a benefit to the ray, so I let the idea evaporate.
