So last night I made my own fish food puree out of shrimp, squash and carrot baby foods, blanched peas, liquid vitamins, spirulina flakes, krill, mangos, banana, spinich, cranberries, garlic clove, and some almost empty fish foods i had sitting around. Probably other stuff too.
I let my CA cichlids sample it last night in little doughy balls and they enjoyed it but it almost turns to powder when they eat it and I think it may foul up my water pretty quick.
I have frozen the 1lb sheet of food, You think it would be ok to feed them little frozen chunks? Because if I thaw it it doesnt stay together, just turns to a slop. I think i should have used some geletin or something. Could I thaw this all and add geletin? i have heard refreezing is bad. Id rather not waste all this, but if so, oh well. lession learned.

I actually tried this the other night with Talapia, shrimp, and Hikari Bio-Gold. I also had the issue of it breaking up and clouding up the water. I really like this idea, but would like to find a better way as well. Looking Forward to seeing what people have to say!

I had thawed my own gel foods just to add more gelatin and freeze them again with no issues. Try to see if it's possible without reeking badly. Yes, you should have added gelatin to hold these things together. You'll need possibly 5-6 sachets of Knox gelatin for this.
