Ok I know that everybody has different opinions on this. But I have a KSB that is very sweet and I want him to stay this way. I was just curious if you guys really think feeding in cage creates aggression problems or not. Or if there is a way around it because I cannot seem to get my little guy to eat outside of his cage.

at least feed off of the substrate. If you cannot get a snake to eat outside of the cage try a clear critter keeper or something placed inside of the cage or if that does not work, put a paper plate in the cage so that the snake does not ingest any of the substrate. I don't even trust calci-sand with snakes, there is still a risk of impaction and you dont want that...

Yea I have always been very aware of impaction I make sure that the pinkie is hit out of the bedding but I mean when he constricts thats deff something I can't really control. So that raises another good point... Any tips on getting him to eat out of his cage?

put him in a much smaller container so that he is virtually sitting on top of the food. then just leave him overnight and i promise it will be gone.

Question though - is he feeding live or pre-killed? Cause if he does what you're suggesting with a live prey item, we could end up with another one of those "snake attacked by mouse" threads...

Good point, but he is a feeding pinkies. I think the snake is safe if its live.

a KSB will take frozen no problem. I have never seen them turn down a meal...

I'm not a fan of feeding snakes in a seperate container and i'm not sure how this trend even caught on.
If you look at it logically, when you enter the enclosure feeding response is possible regardless of where you feed him.;) I think it's safe to say teh most common time to get nailed by a snake is immediately after you enter the enclosure. This is a feeding response 99% of the time. Let him know you aren't food and you shouldn't get bit.

Thanks guys I am going to keep trying him on frozen pinkies in a different container.
