Hello, I have a tank right now with an approximately (1) 4” JD, (1) 2” Firemouth Cichlid, (1) 2” jaguar Cichlid, and (4) 3” giant danios. I was feeding the cichlids Hikari Gold pellets and the danios Tetra Color flakes. The cichlids were eating the pellets but have since become picky and will only eat the flakes. Are there any good flake foods I can get that will be comparable to the Hikari Gold pellets? I want to make sure they are getting the proper amount of protein and what not and I just wasn’t sure if that Tetra Color flake food was sufficient. Any opinions on the matter? Thanks!

What size pellets? The pellets may be too big for quick swallowing. Their throats tend to be smaller than their mouths.

They are the mini size. They were eating them no problem before. Now if they do grab one they spit it right back out. Like I said, it seems like they have developed the liking to the flake food. And I would just stop feeding the flake food and hope the hunger would get the best of them but I need to feed the danios still.

At 2", I've fed my fish, even oscars, baby size pellets until roughly 3-4" total length. You can get Hikari discus bio-gold that the giant danios should be able to eat. If the other fish eat it, no problem.

I will look into it, thanks!
