I picked me up a JD about 2 weeks ok, doing good, just wondering what everyone feeds theirs? Right now I am just feeding him flakes and he is eating great, but I just wanted some other suggestions.
THANKS
i have been feeding mine cichlid small pellets and he loves them. I tossed in some feeder guppies once a week to feed the other fish in the tank. He had very drab colors at the store and in about a weeks time , he became real dark with those nice blue speckles on his sides.
I feed my GT omega one shrimp pellets, hikari cichlid gold, HBH krill pellets, and frozen brine shrimp. Frozen krill, bloodworms, etc are good too. They will probably eat live insects, and especially worms.
Omega One is a good brand for pellets; Hikari is good too, but easier to find.
I feed mine Hikari Gold, Frozen Brine Shrimp infused with spirulina, Frozen Bloodworms, and any live insect that I happen to catch (make sure they are collected from an area free from pesticides/herbicides)
I have 2 electric blues and I feed them frozen brine shrimp, hikari gold floating pellets, hikari sinking wafers, hbh african cichlid ATTACK! sinking pellets ( leftovers from another tank, but they love them) and spectrum discus formula. I feed about 3 times a day with a mix of all the items listed. They have grown only a little bit (had them less than a month from 1.5" or so) but it is noticeable. Their colors are extremely blue with dark black when not feeding, and very light blue with almost no black when eating. They like the sinking stuff best so far, but my floaters are a little big ( I didn't read the package and got medium rather than small). These guys eat like pigs.
Mine gets a bloodworm cube in the morning and some 'Aqua One' cichlid pellets at night. He usually steals a bit of beef heart/fish/prawn from my Bichir as well
He liked his feeders also
