Does anyone feed junebugs/may beetles to their aros? I can't help but think about it as these things buzz around my head like drunk drivers. Seems like a nice cheap food source, but is it safe?
you have to be very careful about catching things from outside because you never know if they maybe got into some pesticide somewhere...not worth the possible problems IMO...
Some people in my local club swear by feeding cicadas (convenient, since we had 4-5 billion in the area this year) and even freeze them for future use.
There's not much more to say about it. Flying insects carry a greater risk of having been within a pesticide site than ones you know are hanging around beneath the logs in your back yard.
I'm sure your fish would eat them, but I personally wouldn't risk it.
My fish devour them... including my aro. I use them every year as cheap fish food when they're around. Not much meat to them tho, so I go through ALOT. I also don't use them as a sole food source during this time, just a snack.
