I have a finicky L114 and was wondering if I can try feeding him clams on the half shell? He'll only eat live black worms currently. I have tons of half shell clams and wanted to know if this is something he may show a little more interest in. So far I've tried NLS wafers, carnivore pellets, and prawns, which he has no interest in. He's newish, but my other psuedas have never turned down prawns before. He's the only psueuda in the tank so I know he's not taking what I've offered so far.

for now feed him what he want to eat. Fat him up with black worms then try pellets and wafers.it will come around it just take time. L114 are hardy pleco.

I usually give my carnivorous plecos massivore, NLS wafers, prawns, and zucchini as a weekly treat. What does yam and sweet potatoe do to the water? They seem like they would fowl it up fairly quick.

All that clams, prawns, scallops, mussels WILL FOWL THE WATER QUICK. Good luck on trying to get your l114 on these options.

Aren't yams and sweet potatoes really fibrous? There's some pretty good current and wouldn't that tear them apart? I'm not worried about water parameters, just the yams breaking up and getting everywhere. Correct me if I'm wrong. I've never used them in my tanks.

Supposedly the beta carotene in sweet potatoes and carrots will bring out the red/oranges in L114. My L114 don't care for them and don't touch any veggies. They did start eating NLS Thera A+ (maybe the garlic in it got them interested), and later did eat xtreme wafers. You may want to try rubbing cut garlic on your xtreme wafers, or applying garlic extract.
I've fed sweet potatoes to my L204; it doesn't foul the water, but there are messy bits of sweet potato everywhere. The L204s seem to like zuchinni better, and it's not as messy.
